INTERNATIONAL PARA PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION
Classification across the entire Paralympic Movement is governed by the IPC Athlete Classification Code, which is issued by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). This Code sets the framework and rules to ensure that the classification system is consistent, transparent, and fair across all Paralympic sports.
Purpose of the IPC Athlete Classification Code:
The main aim is to ensure that:
Athletes compete equitably, based on how their impairment affects sport performance.
Classification is sport-specific, recognizing that different impairments affect performance differently depending on the sport.
Athlete evaluation is conducted ethically and professionally, based on evidence-based methods.
Each International Federation (IF) adapts and applies the Code to its sport, creating its own sport-specific classification rules, but all must be in compliance with the IPC Code.
