The Raghu Kumar Raghavelu IPPA Book of Rules, developed for the International Para Pickleball Association (IPPA), establishes a comprehensive framework for Para Pickleball covering Dwarf, Wheelchair, Standing, Intellectual Disabilities, and Cerebral Palsy categories. It defines player eligibility, classification, court measurements, equipment standards, and competition regulations to ensure fair play, accessibility, safety, and equal sporting opportunities for all.
Additional Bounce Rule — PP42, PP51-PP57, PP1 to PP6, SLA-AK, DLA-AK and PP40-41 Assisted
The Additional Bounce Rule may be permitted where an athlete’s functional mobility limitation materially affects the ability to reach, recover, and return the ball within the standard bounce requirement. Eligibility shall be determined through functional assessment and competition observation in accordance with IPPA Classification Standards and Competition Regulations. For Standing PP42, PP1 to PP6, SLA-AK and DLA-AK, the Classifier shall make the final determination as to whether an Additional Bounce is warranted, based on the Player’s demonstrated functional limitation and not solely on the classification designation. The decision shall be recorded and applied consistently throughout the competition.
Special Court Measurements Rule — PP42, PP51-PP53, PP1 to PP6, SLA-AK, DLA-AK and PP40-41 Assisted Categories
Players competing in the PP42, PP1 to PP6, SLA-AK and DLA-AK categories shall play Singles matches on a specially designated half-court measuring 44 feet in length and 10 feet in width. This adapted court measurement is intended to accommodate the specific mobility and functional requirements of these classifications while ensuring fair, accessible and competitive gameplay in accordance with IPPA regulations.
